Vogue Uk March 2011
Let me explain the post title.
Fact 1: I was in the UK during London Fashion Week (LFW).
Fact 2: I stayed just for a week-end. Shame!
Fact 3: I didn't stay in London though, but in Brighton visiting my parter R.
Fact 4: I did get a lot of fashion inspiration anyway and learnt a lot.
Fatemi spiegare il titolo del post.
Fatto 1: sono stato in inghilterra durante la London Fashion Week (LFW).
Fatto 2: sono rimasto solo un week end. Peccato!
Fatto 3: non sono stato a Londra ma a Brighton a far visita al mio compagno R.
Fatto 4: ho comunque ricevuto moltissima ispirazione legata alla moda e imparato molto.

I ciottoli della riva di Brighton sono la location dell'ultima campagna S/S'11 Burberry Prorsum.
The first fashion related thing I did when I landed on Saturday nigth, was to grab a copy of Vogue Uk. Well, I did read the Italian fashion magazine Velvet on the plane, but I don't really count that as I wasn't still in England.
I love the British version for the excellent editorial content. I love the Vogue Italia too but it is more focused on arty photoshoots rather than content.
Great cover and BAM! a three page Loius Vuitoon spread advert! Loved it!
La prima cosa legata alla moda che ho fatto non appena sono atterrato sabato sera, è stata accaparrarmi una copia di Vogue Uk. Beh, ho letto anche il magazine italiano Velvet sull'aereo, ma non lo calcolo come ispirazione in quanto ancora non ero in Inghilterra.
Mi piace da morire la versione brittanica di Vogue per l'eccelente contenuto editoriale. Mi piace anche Vogue Italia ma è piu' concentrato su photoshoot artistici che sul contenuto giornalistico.

I mentioned the excellent editorial content; that's the title of a faboulous, in depth interview to Miuccia Prada. It 's a really informative article and it does give you an insight into Prada's creative process, company business side and the brand identity.

Vi ho detto dell'ottimo contenuto editoriale; questo il titolo di una favolosa ed approfondita intervista a Miuccia Prada. L'articolo è veramente ricco di informazioni e fa una disamina del processo creativo della maison, del lato economico dell'azienda e dell'identità del marchio.

Fashion inspiration continued throughout my brief but intense week end. In fact on Sunday afternoon, I visited the exhibition 'Capturing Colour: Film, Invention and Wonder' at the Brighton Musuem Art Gallery.
The exhibition displays the painstaking conquest of colour in films and pictures, through a detailed series of original pictures, postcards and films that were, at the beginning hand-painted and then, with the addictive and subtractive method, the colours were printed directly on the film. A simple but accurate room also explains these procedures and shows the projectors and cameras used. Famous films such as 'Red Shoes', 'The Giant', 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'Gone with the Wind' were the latest developements and wonders of Technicolor.
Le ispirazioni di moda sono proseguite per il breve ma intenso week-end. Infatti la domenica pomeriggio, ho visitato la mostra 'Catturare il Colore: Film, Invenzione e Meraviglia' nella galleria d'arte del Brighton Museum.
La mostra esibisce la sofferta conquista del colore su pellicola e fotografie, attraverso una dettagliata serie di foto, cartoline e filmati originali che, all'inizio, erano dipinti a mano, ed in seguito, col metodo additivo e sottrattivo, i colori erano direttamente impressi sulla pellicola. una sala semplice ma accurata spiega queste procedure e mostra i proiettori e le macchine usate. Famosissimi film come 'Scarpette Rosse', 'Il Gigante', 'Il Mago di Oz' e 'Via col Vento' sono stati l'apice e la meraviglia del metodo Technicolor.
Anyway...back to fashion inspiration. The following video, that was in the xhibition, caught my attention .The use of colour, shape, movement and the Cuban/hawain music made a fashion bell ring in my head. The video is fun but you'll be amazed to know that every single shape and frame was...hand painted on the film!
Comunque...torniamo alle ispirazioni di moda. Il video seguente, presente nella mostra, ha catturato la mia attenzione. L'uso del colore, le forme, il movimento e la musica cubana/hawaiana mi hanno fatto sisuonare una campanella modaiona in testa. Il video è divertente ma la meraviglia sta nel sapere che ogni forma e fotogramma è stato dipinto a mano sulla pellicola!
Don't you find some kind of resemblance between the video and Prada ( YES! again!) S/S '11 collection?
Non trovate una certa somiglianza tra il video e la collezione S/S '11 di Prada (SI! Acora lei!)?
Last but not least the final (not sure) find! I missed the train for the airport and untill the next one me and R. decided to have coffee in a bar near the station.What do I find there? 'The Stylist' magazine!!
The best name EVER for a magazine, but it was the first time I did see a real copy of it. I have 'The Stylist' on Facebook and Twitter but...it was a real emotion to be able to flick through its pages for real. And my...again excellent editorial content and really original and creative shoots!
Dulcis in fundo la scoperta finale (ma non ne sarei sicuro)! Ho perso il treno per l'aereoporto e fino a quello succeso io e R. abbiamo deciso di prenerci un caffè in un locale vicino la stazione. Che cosa trovo lì? La rivista 'The Stylist'!
Il miglior nome di SEMPRE per una rivista, ma era la prima volta che ne vedevo una copia cartacea. Ho 'The Stylist' sul mio account Twitter e Facebook ma...è stata una vera emozione poter sfogliarlo dal vero. E cavolo... di nuovo conenuto editoriali ottimi e dei servizi fotografici originali e creativi.
It was rather interesting and very informative that both 'The Stylist' and Vogue had an article about 'power dressing': what English princesses, queens ans queen-to-be ( Kate Middleton) and Prime minister's wife's used to/should wear accordind to the message that they want to send to public opinion.
E' stato interessante e molto informativo che sia 'The Stylist' che Vogue avevano un artcilo sul 'potere del vestrirsi': cosa principesse, regine e regine-a-venire ( Kate Middleton) e le mogli dei Pirmi Ministri indossavano o dovrebbero indossare, a secondo del messaggio che volgiono mandare all'opinione pubblica.
Questo era il cuore del Mio Week end della moda a Londra...c'e' ancora qualcosina ma ne scivero' a breve.
